29

I turned 29 on October 16th and as a birthday present from my mom she flew into town for the weekend. Additionally, she and my sister went in on a gift.
Ps that's a lamp behind the box not an antenna ;)

The iPhone was something I had contemplated for a long time (on and off) and with their encouragement, we went for it.

I have LOVED having it! It's a great little phone, let's be honest it's more like a mini computer. But it's been so helpful. It reminds me of meetings, I can check email, and on top of that the maps and around me apps are helpful when traveling!

Thank you mom and CJ for the gift!

Ps while my mom was in town we did some traveling and I crossed three states off my list. More to come on this soon! :)

Sweet CLs

Not so sweet smell.

Last week two of my CLs held an event for the Baylor Business Women. The event was a dinner where the women learned proper dinning etiquette. My CLs planned the event, set up for the event, and in turn took everything down. As part of the table decorations, they bought lilies.

After the event, I got a call from Gretchen asking if I was in my apartment because her and Kalie wanted to bring over a gift. Intrigued, and on my way back to my apartment, I told them I'd be there in a few.

When I got back, they were standing outside my door with tons of flower arrangements eager to give them away (so sweet!).

Today, when I went to clean my apartment I noticed a funky smell in my kitchen. Wondering if I accidentally left something out, I searched for the smell. These beautiful little flowers were the source!

As I cleaned the vase, I was surprised by how potent the smell was. Only a week after their gift and yet, the smell (especially when disturbed) was enough to make me grab a towel to cover my nose and mouth.

Again...what a sweet gesture, but not such a sweet smell.

Got the itch?!

These last six weeks have been crazy. The next four weeks will be equally as busy between homecoming, family visiting (yay!), and working on grad school apps.

In trying to keep a balanced life, I try to make time for myself and the things that I love to do!

One of those things is traveling! Although I had the opportunity to visit family and friends this summer (which was great), I'm getting the itch to go somewhere new, get out of Texas (particularly Waco)...maybe even check a state off my list.

As much as I'd love to check Hawaii off the list, it's probably not practical at this point in the semester or in my life. :) So I guess I'm just going to have to be creative and resourceful in finding someway to fill the craving for travel.

People in this world?!

There aren't many things that leave me speechless. I'm a talker. My number one strength according to the Strengths Finder is communication. I love to explain, reiterate, summarize, and help people understand. However, the story I just read (here) left me speechless, mostly. It's the kind of ending you can only hope for, but never actually intend to happen. Enjoy!
